 Nasce lo strumento programmatico per utilizzare le 32 riserve dell’Azienda regionale
“Per attrarre turismo e creare sviluppo, il Governo mira a indirizzare i beni ambientali verso un uso sociale attraverso la fruizione culturale e non esclusivamente materiale del patrimonio naturale. Questo comporta però una seria e corretta pianificazione delle modalità di fruizione: dalla realizzazione di strutture e infrastrutture, alla definizione di proposte educative, didattiche e ricreative armoniche con le finalità istitutive delle aree protette. (...) Una strategia di sviluppo di questo tipo, che non trascuri o sottovaluti la missione istituzionale di tutela e salvaguardia, ha richiesto però la necessità di ridisegnare, in un progetto chiaro, il nuovo ruolo delle riserve quali soggetti attivi di una politica turistica, in cui le riserve possono rappresentare un vero patrimonio economico e occupazionale, oltre che naturalistico”. Così il governatore, Raffaele Lombardo, presentando gli obiettivi del nuovo strumento programmatico che dovrà migliorare e promuovere le 32 riserve naturali orientate gestite dall’Azienda Foreste Demaniali.
“Raggiungeremo il traguardo - ha dichiarato l’assessore all’Agricoltura, Michele Cimino - quando queste splendide aree saranno in grado di arricchire il visitatore anche dell’esperienza e della conoscenza dell’ambiente, della storia e delle tradizioni dei comprensori dove insistono le riserve”.

Social use to be made of nature
The programmatic instrument is coming into being for using the 32 reserves of the regional board
 “To attract tourism and create development, the government aims to address the environmental heritage towards social use through cultural and not exclusively material enjoyment of the natural heritage. This, however, involves serious and correct planning of the modalities of enjoyment: from the creation of structures and infrastructures, to the definition of educational, teaching and recreational proposals harmonized with the institutional aims of reserves... A development strategy of this type, not neglecting or underestimating the institutional mission of protection and safeguarding, has however created the need to redesign, in a clear project, the new role of reserves as active subjects of a tourist policy, in which reserves can represent a true economic and occupational heritage, as well as being a nature heritage.” This is what the governor, Raffaele Lombardo, said, introducing the objectives of the new programmatic instrument that will have to improve and promote the 32 special nature reserves managed by the Forestry Board.
“We will reach the finishing line,” declared the Regional Minister for Agriculture, Michele Cimino, “when these splendid areas are also able to enrich the visitor with experience and knowledge of the environment, the history and the traditions of the districts in which the reserves lie.”
